The Connecticut Recyclers Coalition (CRC) has elected Paul Nonnenmacher, director of public affairs for the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority (CRRA), as its new president.
In his capacity with CRRA, Nonnenmacher oversaw the recycling education programs offered by CRRA at its Trash Museum in Hartford and the Garbage Museum in Stratford.
CRC’s priorities include:
1. Provide commercial and industrial members with techniques to cut costs through recycling and source reduction.
2. Supporting Connecticut's legislative goal of recycling 58 percent of the waste stream.
3. Stimulate and create markets for post-consumer recyclables.
4. Advocate for pollution prevention.
5. Promote composting of organic materials as a large and valuable part of the waste stream.
6. Promote recycling of non-mandated items to the extent that the market will bear.
7. Advocate the manufacture of less toxic products, encourage household hazardous waste collection programs and public education programs.
