CP Group announces new senior vice president

CP Group, a San Deigo-based designer and manufacturer of material sorting and recovery equipment for the waste and recycling industry, has named Richard Coupland its new senior vice president of strategy and growth.

Bringing more than 34 years of experience, Coupland joins CP Group following a decade-long role as vice president of municipal sales at Republic Services, Phoenix. There, he managed a nationwide portfolio of partnerships with more than 2,400 municipalities.

Coupland’s career also includes 20 years at General Dynamics and Motorola, where he was instrumental in pioneering advanced technologies for global military and public safety applications.

“It is such an exciting time in the recycling industry, as increased interest in diversion and sustainability meets with extended producer responsibility (EPR) legislation, and the use of AI technology to improve sortation and quality,” Coupland says. “As a mechanical engineer with a career in technology and the recycling industry, I am humbled and excited to join a leader in the recycling industry and help partner with our customers to innovate the next generation of systems that exceed their objectives.”

As senior vice president for strategy and growth, Coupland will lead efforts in sales, product development and strategic business planning. He will engage in focused activities related to sector and product development to support growth.
