LRM Industries Inc. won approval for plans to relocate its rock-recycling operation to a new site southeast of Lawrence, Kansas. The Douglas Councy commissioners voted unanimously to approve the move by rezoning the site from agricultural to industrial.
Several residents who lived near the new location expressed disappoinment that a deal could not be worked out whereby LRM would buy their property at an equitable price.
Commissioners also approved a site plan that details locations for the operation's burn pit and piles of rock and pavement.
