The electronics recycling company Global Electric Electronic Processing (GEEP) has announced that its Tejar, Costa Rica, facility has become one of the first approved electronic waste processors for the country. The approval process was managed by the Costa Rican Ministry of Health.
According to GEEP, based in Barrie, Ontario, under current Costa Rican legislation, all companies and collection points in Costa Rica must send their electronic waste to an approved processor. Only approved processors may legally ship electronic scrap commodities to approved downstream operations. In addition, legal demanufacturing of electronic scrap is exclusive to approved processors.
