Netherlands-based advanced plastics recycler Corsair Group International Holding BV recently announced a strategic partnership with Switzerland-based Kera Energy AG where Corsair will supply its pyrolysis oil to Kera for distribution across markets that include Europe, Asia and the Americas.
According to Corsair, the collaboration marks an important step in its mission to scale up the advanced recycling of plastics, and its agreement with Kera signals “growing international demand” for its pyrolysis oil, derived from everyday household plastic scrap.
“We are very pleased to partner with Kera Energy, a company that shares our vision of a cleaner, circular economy,” Corsair CEO Jussi Veikko Saloranta says. “Kera’s extensive expertise and market access will allow us to accelerate our environmental impact and reach more regions with our solution to the global plastic waste crisis.”
Kera says it specializes in the optimization of supply chains and the commercialization of sustainable raw materials such as plastic and tire pyrolysis oil. The company says it has a processing capacity of up to 300,000 tons per year and compliance with ISCC Plus and REACH regulations, enabling it to provide circular and biobased solutions for the chemical and refining industries.
“We are proud to partner with Corsair as we jointly work to eliminate plastic waste from our environment,” Kera CEO Shane Perl says.
By utilizing Corsair’s pyrolysis oil, produced from mixed plastic household scrap at facilities in Thailand, Finland and future facilities, Kera says it will support the production of new, sustainable plastics and chemicals and contribute to a closed-loop system for plastics that avoids landfills and incineration.
“We are committed to building a bridge between environmental goals and industrial performance, and this partnership with Corsair embodies that commitment,” says Simon Housecroft, head of sustainable materials at Kera. “We believe Corsair will remain one of the global leaders within this market sector with ambitious but realistic expansion plans. As a partnership, we believe we can successfully deliver circularity to our market sector.”
