Coors Commits to Aluminum

Coors Brewing Co., Golden, Colo., has entered into a joint venture with one of the nation’s largest beverage container makers to make as many as 4.5 billion aluminum cans per year.

The beer maker has announced a joint venture with Ball Corp., Broomfield, Colo., to create a new joint venture called Rocky Mountain Metal Container that will be based at Coors’ can facilities in Golden.  The joint venture calls for the production of 4.5 billion aluminum cans each year for the beer maker.

According to an Associated Press report, the companies announced in September that they were working on an agreement.

Coors says the venture with Ball Corp., the largest beverage can manufacturer in North America, will also improve the supply of cans to its breweries in Elkton, Va., and Memphis, Tenn.
