Gorham Technologies, Gorham, Maine, is preparing for its eighth international conference focusing on ferrous scrap, DRI, HBI and pig iron used in steel production.
The “Market Outlook for Iron & Steel Scrap and Scrap Alternatives” conference will be held Nov. 17-19 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans.
According to a Gorham news release, “The conference will address the interests of decision makers from steel manufacturers, scrap processors and brokers, the scrap alternatives industry, equipment manufacturers, and plant engineering firms; as well as industry analysts, trade lawyers, technology innovators, and senior business and investment advisors.”
Topics addressed include global and regional steelmaking forecasts, including commodity pricing prospects; technical innovations in the steelmaking field; and trade legislation and how it could affect global trading patterns.
Speakers scheduled for the event include New York- based steel industry analyst Charles Bradford of Bradford Research Inc., on the state of the steel and scrap industries; I. Michael Coslov of Tube City Inc., King of Prussia, Pa., on scrap market economics; Stephen Miller of Ferrosource Inc., Solon, Ohio, on pig iron prospects; Jeremy Jones of Nupro Corp., Grand Island, N.Y., on maximizing scrap value; and Robert Klawoon of Midrex Technologies, Charlotte, N.C., on the outlook for alternative ironmaking technologies.
Both Ronnie Cecil of CRU Group, London, and Sara Hornsby of Global Strategic Solutions Inc., Charlotte, N.C., will present forecasts on the global metallics (scrap and scrap alternatives) market for the next several years.
