Concrete Recycling Saves Money for California Town

Redlands, Calif., awards contract to crush and recycle concrete.

The city of Redlands, Calif., has awarded a $140,930 contract to Amalgamated Recycling Inc. of Brawley, Calif., to crush and recycle concrete, according to a report in the Redlands Daily Facts (Redlands, Calif.).

The crushed concrete will be reused for city street repairs and other projects, allowing the city to save money on material it otherwise would have had to purchase, according to the report.

The recycling operation began in May at the California Street Landfill, which is used to dispose the city’s trash.
