Electronics and glass recycler Envirocycle Inc., Hallstead, Pa., will host U.S. EPA Administrator Christie Whitman for a tour of its facility on Fri., Nov. 22.
Whitman and a delegation of other government and industry officials will tour the plant where computer monitor and television screen glass is processed and prepared for shipment to screen glassmaking facilities.
The company, located in the northeastern quadrant of the state, is a critical destination for the up to 1 million tons of monitor and TV screen glass that becomes obsolete in the U.S. each year.
Envirocycle is being recognized by the EPA for taking part in the eCycling program in the Mid-Atlantic States. The eCycling partnership held nearly 50 collection events in 2002 that collected a combined 2,100 tons of obsolete electronics.
The Friday plant tour will be attended by Whitman, Pennsylvania Congressional Representative Don Sherwood, and executives from other eCycling partners such as Sony, Sharp, Panasonic, JVC, Canon, Hewlett Packard, Kodak, Philips and Nokia.Latest from Recycling Today
