Composite Technologies Co. is nearing completion of the expansion of a 200,000-square-foot facility at its Dayton, Ohio, headquarters. When the expansion is complete, the company expects to be able to increase its production of recycled-content plastic products, primarily plastic pallets.
The company expects to have the expansion completed by this coming April. Local reports note that the expansion will cost around $3 million, and is expected to add more work plastics compounding and injection molding work.
Kenneth Stacherski, president and COO for the company, says that a big advantage the company has is that it targets harder-to-recycle scrap plastics that are not as commonly sought after by recycling firms.
While the company makes a number of other products, its main focus is the production of plastic pallets, a segment that Stacherski says is growing at a fairly good clip. The company takes in polypropylene and polyethylene and either produces a 100 percent recycled resin or manufactures the complete finished product.
The company has been in business for 15 years.
Local reports also note that Montgomery County, Ohio commissioners recently voted to approve a $125,000 grant for the expansion.
