New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch has applauded members of the state House Science, Technology and Energy Committee for supporting legislation that would ban the burning of construction and demolition debris in the state, according to a press release from the governor’s office.
The committee voted 13-1 to recommend approval of the legislation.
A moratorium on the burning of C&D debris expires on Dec. 31. House Bill 428 would be a permanent ban on burning the material, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
Gov. Lynch was among officials who testified before the committee at a hearing on the matter in February.
Rep. Christine Hamm, D-Hopkinton, is the bill’s primary sponsor.
