The Secondary Metals Processing Division of Commerical Metals Co. (CMC) of Irving, Texas, has announced that it has entered into a multi-year contract with CEMEX Inc. to oversee the handling and disposition or scrap metals generated by its U.S. manufacturing operations.
Headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico, CEMEX is one of the largest cement companies in the world. With a network in the United States that stretches from California to Florida and from Texas to the Great Lakes, CEMEX is the largest distributor of cement and one of the largest ready-mix producers in the United States.
Larry Olschwanger, vice president of national accounts for CMC's Secondary Metals Processing Division, says, "We are pleased to be awarded this contract for CEMEX's U.S. operations and we are confident our service and capabilities in handling their scrap management will result in a long-term relationship."
CMC's Secondary Metals Processing Division is one of the largest processors of scrap ferrous and nonferrous metals in the United States. Commerical Metals Co. and its subsidiaries manufacture, recycle and market steel and metal products, related materials and services through a network including steel minimills, steel fabrication and processing plants, construction-related product warehouses, a copper tube mill, metal recycling facilities and marketing and distrbution offices in the United States and in strategic overseas markets.
