Commercial Metals Acquires Fabrication Business

Commercial Metals Co. announced the acquisition of substantially all of the operating assets of American Steel Fabricators, a rebar fabrication business in Ft. Myers, Fla. This facility will be owned by SMI Steel Fabricators of Florida, Inc. and operate under the name of SMI Florida Fabricators.

ASF began operation in 1994 and has is a regional supplier of fabricated reinforced steel for South Florida and the Caribbean.

Jeff Selig, president-Steel Group East, said, "The Ft. Myers acquisition will be a good addition to the CMC Steel Group. This acquisition supports our desire to continue to expand the Steel Group into the Florida markets."
