The Columbus (Wisconsin) Journal reports that the Columbus City Council has begun exploring options to provide trash and recycling services to residents in light of the upcoming expiration of the city’s contract with Advanced Disposal, Ponte Vedra, Florida.
At a meeting for the Committee of the Whole Tuesday, July 19, 2016, Greg Kaminski, director of solid waste and recycling for Columbia County, offered Columbus the option of signing on to the county’s two curbside recycling programs. The county would charge $11 per month to use recycling bags and $12 per month for recycling carts.
“We’re very competitive,” Kaminski said at the meeting. “We’re not out to make a lot of profit on this. This is a county service, and we try to price our services that way.”
The county also offers communities the option of hosting yearly “cleanup days,” when residents can dispose of larger items and appliances either on the curb or at a county designated drop-off site.
