Columbus McKinnon Corp., headquartered in Sarasota, Fla., has announced the sale and installation of one its tire recycling systems to B.A.S. Recycling, Inc., located in Moreno Valley, Calif.
The multi-stage system is capable of processing more than 12,000 pounds per hour of passenger car, truck tires and super single truck tires. The system is capable of processing crumb rubber, and is the first complete front-end process system for cryogenic crumb process system, as well as the first of its kind designed as a closed loop system to minimize waste, maximize steel cleanliness while maintaining impressive throughput rates.
The Size Reduction Stage consists of a CM Primary Shredder with screening capabilities to produce a 4 to 6 inch tire chip feed stock that is fed to a CM Liberator for the next stage of the process.
The Steel Liberation Stage is designed to receive the 4 to 6 inch tire chips and uses a CM4R Liberator. The Liberator is feed by an independent feed bin which meters the material for maximum throughput. Once the steel and rubber are liberated the system utilizes a clean wire system to sort and separate the rubber and clean wire. The clean steel is sold to a steel mill and the rubber fractions are passed on for further processing through a screening system, where material ideal for mulch markets or other ambient markets can be screened out of the material flow while the balance of the material is sent to a surge bin for processing in the cryogenic system.
