The Morgan County, Colorado, Planning Commission voted not to recommend the construction and development of a facility that would include both buying and selling used farm equipment as well as operating as a scrap yard.
While the commission voted not to recommend the combined business entity, it did approve the site, on the outskirts of Brush, Co., to operate solely as a used farm equipment facility.
The company that made the request for a special permit to locate on roughly 4 acres of land will be taking its case to the Morgan County Commissioners where a final decision will be made. The commissioners are slated to hear the case March 4.
The company, GNI, presently operates a similar operation in Fort Morgan, Co. However, when the company received a two-year permit to operate at that site the company was encouraged to find a better location to site their operation.
The main argument in opposition to including the scrap yard on the site was the proximity to several highways, as well as its location, at the entrance to the city of Brush. (see earlier story)
