Italy-based Cofit International says it has partnered with Charlotte, North Carolina-based Melt Filtration Products (MFP) to bring Cofit’s postconsumer and postindustrial uninterrupted continuous polymer melt filtration product the GorillaBelt to the United States.
MFP says the GorillaBelt was initially developed and sold and was “very well-received” in Europe during the past several years. The two companies say the GorillaBelt has been running in multiple installations and handling inbound plastic streams with contamination rates of from 10 to 15 percent.
The product can do this, says Cofit, while running at a throughput rate of 7,000 pounds per hour and producing “exceptional end products.” The GorillaBelt also is offered at “an extremely competitive price point,” say the firms.
The GorillaBelt has been designed to remove sand, glass, metal, paper, cardboard and other nonmelt polymers while filtering particles as fine as 90 microns in size.
In the United States, the GorillaBelt is being made available through a partnership of MPF as lead distributor and Cofit North America, which has established a base of operations in California, including a technical support team and a warehouse.
Designed to address challenges from the recycling through the compounding stages, the GorillaBelt “boasts zero line stops to change out screens, drums, or discs, all the while offering high automation, high quality of final product [all at competitive] pricing,” say the two firms.
