CMC Picks up Metals USA Contract

Commercial Metals Co., Dallas, has entered a multi-year scrap handling contract with Houston-based Metals USA.

Metals USA, a steel service center company with locations throughout the U.S., has selected the Secondary Metals Processing Division of Commercial Metals Co. (CMC), Dallas, to handle scrap at several of its locations.

Houston-based Metals USA has entered into a multi-year contract allowing CMC to oversee the handling and disposition of scrap metals generated by Metals USA’s Flat Rolled Group and Plates and Shapes Group, each with multiple locations.

According to Larry Olschwanger of CMC, the Dallas-based scrap company has earned the company’s trust by its past handling of scrap generated within the Flat Rolled Group. “Because of the increased level of confidence that Metals USA now has in our service and capabilities, we are proud to expand our services to include their Plates and Shapes Group as well,” says Olschwanger.

Don Gingery, a vice president with Metals USA, remarks, “Two of the key reasons we expanded our business relationship with CMC is their integrity and our great satisfaction with the customer service they provided.”

CMC has more than 40 scrap recycling locations, with the majority in the southeastern U.S., including several in Texas and Florida.
