Commercial Metals Company, a Dallas-based steel company, announced the acquisition of substantially all of the operating assets of the Steel Division of Varmicon Partnership, Ltd., a rebar fabrication operation located in Harlingen, Texas. This facility will be owned by CMC Steel Fabricators, Inc. and operate under the name of SMI Valley Steel as part of the CMC Steel Group.
Varmicon's Steel Division has been operating since 1950. Mike Cantu will serve as General Manager of SMI Valley Steel.
