Commercial Metals Co. (CMC), Irving, Texas, has acquired a metals recycling facility and related assets from Owensboro, Kentucky-based Kodiak Resources Inc. and Kodiak Properties LLC.
CMC is acquiring Kodiak’s metals recycling facility and related assets in Dickinson, Texas. According to Kodiak’s website, Kodiak also operates scrap metal warehouses in Houston; Toledo, Ohio; and New Orleans.
According to CMC, Kodiak’s Dickinson facility processes approximately 55,000 tons of ferrous and nonferrous materials per year, with the majority of volumes related to obsolete ferrous scrap grades consumed by CMC’s long product mills.
CMC says the transaction is expected to enhance the security and supply of competitively priced inputs to CMC’s steelmaking operations. The company did not disclose the acquisition price.
