Clean Earth acquires Michigan company

Specialty waste firm acquires Disposal and Recycling Technologies Inc. (DART).

Hatboro, Pennsylvania-based specialty waste disposal and recycling company Clean Earth Inc. has announced its acquisition of Rochester Hills, Michigan-based Disposal and Recycling Technologies Inc. (DART).

DART has a RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) Part B hazardous waste treatment, disposal and storage facility (TSDF) in Charlotte, North Carolina, and a wastewater treatment facility in Detroit. The acquisition adds to Clean Earth’s presence in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic market and provides Clean Earth’s first wastewater treatment facility.

According to Clean Earth, DART provides hazardous and nonhazardous waste treatment and disposal services; product destruction and reclamation services; and environmental field services, including on-site wastewater treatment and remediation.

“We are excited about the growth of our company,” comments Chris Dods, president and CEO of Clean Earth. “The addition of DART provides a solid network of Clean Earth facilities to service the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest hazardous waste market and collectively will provide our customers even more disposal and recycling solutions from one company that shares the same values and commitment to the environment.”

In March 2018, Clean Earth acquired Doraville, Georgia-based MKC Enterprises Inc., which provides hazardous and nonhazardous waste management services and has a RCRA Part B facility in Georgia.

Clean Earth now has 26 facilities in the United States and in 2017 recycled 3.57 million tons of soil and dredged material, 3,500 tons of aerosol products, more than 1,000 tons of metal from aerosols, 2,850 tons of electronic scrap, more than 1,000 tons of batteries and 2,900 tons of lamps. The firm estimates it recycles approximately 98 percent of the material it collects.
