The California Integrated Waste Management Board has available tire product commercialization grants. The grant provides funding on a competitive basis to research institutions, businesses, and individuals for projects and products designed to put large amounts of waste tires) to use, rather than disposal.
It is anticipated that $2 million will be available for this grant program in fiscal year 2001-02. Eligible applicants may request up to $250,000.
The Integrated Waste Management Board (IWMB) administers a tire grant program to provide opportunities to divert waste tires from landfill disposal, prevent illegal tire dumping, and promote markets for recycled-content tire products. The agency will award the grants on a competitive basis.
Applications must be postmarked by Friday, August 17, 2001.
Eligible projects and products, after successful implementation, should consume a minimum of 250,000 passenger tire equivalents annually. Applicants must describe how the process or resultant products will or can be utilized to meet the minimum use requirement.
All applicants are required to provide minimum matching funds equaling fifty percent (50%) of the grant amount requested.
