John Ockenfels has been appointed the first CEO of City Carton Recycling, Iowa City, Iowa, and his brother Andy Ockenfels has been appointed the new president of the multiple-location recycling company.

“This is truly another very large step in the history of our company,” says John Ockenfels. “In our 39 years of existence, we have had only two presidents, our father, Mort Ockenfels, and myself. And, until now, we have not had a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO position was created to further City Carton Recycling’s continuous growth throughout the Midwest and to assist in planning for the company’s future successes.”

In their new roles both Ockenfels brothers will be responsible for providing leadership, direction and control for all aspects of City Carton Recycling’s diversified activities in order to realize the optimal return on investment compatible with the long-range objectives of the board of directors, according to a City Carton news release.

As CEO, John Ockenfels will implement, give direction and leadership toward the achievement of City Carton Recycling’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives. Andy Ockenfels, as City Carton Recycling’s new president, assumes ultimate responsibility for all business decisions, and ultimate control of all business operations.

His knowledge and experience in the recycling industry is well known and respected nationally by the leaders of our industry, and by the managers and owners of City Carton Recycling. He has put together and developed a great team who has the knowledge and drive to continue to improve and grow our company for many years to come.”
