The City Carton Recycling/Ockenfels Family Foundation 17th Annual Charity Golf Outing has been scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011 at the Brown Deer Golf Club in Coralville, Iowa (near Iowa City).
The outing has raised $97,500 to benefit the American Cancer Society and the Children’s Cancer Connection charities.
Each year, the outing collects and donates the funds through the “Debbie Ockenfels - Kids Rock!” Foundation. Portions of the outing proceeds are donated to the Children’s Cancer Connection program, which runs camps for children with cancer and their siblings. The outing’s expenses are paid by the Ockenfels Family Foundation.
The outing is held in memory of Deborah Ockenfels, daughter of City Carton Recycling founders Mort and Marcy. Deborah died of cancer in 1972 at the age of 17.
More than 160 golfers from across the United States and Canada have teed off at the annual event, while other Ockenfels family members, friends and City Carton Recycling associates assist with hosting the event.
Sponsors for the 2011 event include International Paper, Waste Management Recycle America, Machinex, IPS Balers, Vecoplan and L&P Wire Tie Systems.
A post-outing party features food and beverages, a live auction and the handing out of sponsorship gifts and golfing trophies.
Those seeking more details on the 2011 outing or wishing to sign up can contact Jennifer Humphrey at 1-800-369-6112 or jenniferhumphrey@citycarton.com.
