The City Carton Recycling/Ockenfels Family Foundation 16th Annual Charity Golf Outing has been scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010 at the Brown Deer Golf Club in Coralville, Iowa (near Iowa City).
Last year, the outing raised more than $97,500 to benefit American Cancer Society (ACS) children’s programs.
Each year, the outing collects and donates the funds through the “Debbie Ockenfels - Kids Rock!” Foundation. Portions of the outing proceeds are donated to “The Heart Connection,” a camp for children with cancer and their siblings and to the ACS’s Scholarship Program. The outing’s expenses are paid by the Ockenfels Family Foundation, helping ensure donations reach the charities.
The outing is held in memory of Deborah Ockenfels, daughter of City Carton Recycling founders Mort and Marcy. Deborah died of cancer at the age of 17.
More than 160 golfers from across the United States and Canada teed off at the 2009 version of the event and more than 40 additional friends, family and City Carton Recycling associates assisted with hosting the event.
Donations are raised in part through activity and hole sponsorships. Raffle tickets sold throughout the day’s event can also be earned by golfers as they test their skill at various course games and contests.
A post-outing party features food and beverages, a live auction and the handing out of sponsorship gifts and golfing trophies.
Those seeking more details on the 2010 outing or wishing to sign up can contact Jennifer Humphrey or Andy Ockenfels at 1-800-369-6112 or jenniferhumphrey@citycarton.com or andyockenfels@citycarton.com.
