City Carton Recycling Appoints New President

Bill Lundberg becomes president as Andy Ockenfels advances to the role of CEO.

Bill Lundberg is the newly appointed president of City Carton Recycling, headquartered in Iowa City, Iowa. Lundberg is the first nonfamily member to serve as president of the company. Andy Ockenfels, former president, will now serve as CEO of City Carton Recycling.

“As a City Carton Recycling board of directors member for the past three years, Bill has been instrumental in working with our team and the Ockenfels family to establish clear goals for long-term success,” Ockenfels says. “Bill has been professional, successful and profitable throughout his career. We are excited to get Bill on board as president and look forward to the value he adds to this team.”

As president, Lundberg will oversee all City Carton Recycling operations. He uses Lean Enterprise, not restricted to Lean LundbergManufacturing, and Six Sigma as preferred methods to identify and implement process improvements designed to increase productivity and reduce errors. Lundberg’s office will be at the company’s Iowa City headquarters.

“I am excited to join the leadership team and look forward to working to improve all aspects of City Carton Recycling and document destruction and recycling services from the perspective of our stakeholders—owners, customers, employees, suppliers and community,” Lundberg says.

Lundberg spent 27 years with Cargill in a variety of sales and operations positions with their steel subsidiary, North Star Steel Co. For the past seven years, he was president and COO of Roscoe Steel and Culvert Co., Billings, Mont., where he oversaw three operational units—corrugated metal pipe, structural steel and bridge. While in Montana, Lundberg also served on the Big Sky Economic Development board of eirectors.

City Carton Recycling bills itself as Iowa’s largest full-service paper recycling company and one of the largest full-service recycling companies in the Midwest. The company processes recyclable materials at eight facilities in Iowa and also operates Document Destruction and Recycling Services, a full service, bonded, confidential materials shredding company with facilities in Cedar Rapids, Davenport and Altoona, Iowa.
