Chloros Environmental, a waste management and recycling firm based in Droitwich, England, has announced plans to invest £1.5 million (or $1.92 million) into a new waste transfer facility. According to a news release from Chloros, the new transfer station is a 43,000-square-foot warehouse in Hartlebury, Worcestershire. The company plans to have the facility opened by the end of November.
Chloros received an official environmental permit for the facility in August, the company reports in a news release. The newly commissioned site will hold administrative offices, a specialist lab with full laboratory analyst equipment and other high-tech facilities, including indoor reception, inspection and storage areas for all waste.
“We are delighted to have been issued the official environmental permit and to have clearance to go ahead with the development of the new Hartlebury site,” says Richard Hurdle, director of Chloros Environmental “Within a matter of months, this will form a vital part of the local and national infrastructure, ensuring that we can deliver the very best service to our customers for years to come.”
Chloros has been operating from its current base near Droitwich, Worcestershire, for about seven years. The pending move will help the company to grow, allowing it to accept and process up to 24,000 metric tons of packaged waste per year.
The waste material, including solvents, paints, oils and other hydrocarbons, is recycled where possible, with some exported to continental Europe through transfrontier shipments, which are approved by the Environmental Agency and comply with the international legislation on shipment of waste for recovery operations.
“Although our current headquarters are local to Hartlebury, this significant investment will allow us to fulfill our growth objectives, employ more staff and service more clients,” Hurdle adds. “With a completion date for November 2019, it will epitomize a successful year for Chloros, with the business reaching important milestones and winning new tenders on a regular basis.”
Chloros launched in 2009 as a U.K.-based waste management and recycling firm, which administers hazardous waste requirements for about 250 customers, including other waste management companies in the U.K.
