Chef Container LLC, based in Holland, Mich., has completed the second phase of the expansion of its Westshore Recycling & Transfer Station.
This expansion includes the construction of a 6,000-square-foot metal structure that is connected to the original building and will be home to a new recycling sorting system. The processing equipment at the plant is expected to be installed by the end of May 2012. The company says the sorting system will allow the company to handle commingled materials. When both the construction projects are complete, the combined expansion efforts will have transformed the Westshore facility from a 6,400 square-foot single building to a combined 27,000 square-foot operating structure.
The Westshore Recycling & Transfer Station finished the first phase of its expansion this past December. That expansion consisted of a towering white stretched fabric building. This structure is being used as a baling, storage and sorting area for inbound recycling materials collected by Chef Container and other recycling contractors throughout Michigan.
