More than 200 participants in an Ockenfels Family Foundation/City Carton Recycling 11th Annual Charity Golf Outing helped raise more than $57,000 for American Cancer Society (ACS) children’s cancer programs in Iowa.
The golf outing was held in memory of Deborah Ockenfels, daughter of City Carton Recycling founders Mort and Marcy Ockenfels. Deborah died of cancer in 1972 at the age of 17.
Sponsors who helped make the event successful this year included Trex Co., L & P Wire Tie Systems, Weyerhaeuser, Allied Waste, IPS Balers and Document Destruction and Recycling Services. Those donating prizes included L & P Wire Tie Systems, Cedar River Paper, JV Manufacturing, Core Vens Insurance Co., Electrolux, The Vernon Company, Amana / Maytag Appliance, and City Carton Recycling employees, friends, and family.
More than $250,000 has been raised and donated to ACS since the start of the charity golf outing eleven years ago. All expenses for the event are paid for by the Ockenfels Family Foundation.
