CFF Houston Home of New Metso Shredder

New Metso Lindemann Zerdirator will be first of its type in the U.S.

Metso Lindemann’s North American operation, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has announced the first U.S. sale of a Metso Lindemann 9000 Power Zerdirator Shredder.

The machine has been sold to CFF Recycling, Houston. CFF Recycling USA, a long-time customer of Metso Lindemann, is part of France’s CFF Recycling, one of the world’s largest scrap metal processors.

The Power Zerdirator is designed to limit dust, noise and vibration, according to a Metso Lindemann news release. Several protective hydraulic features have been incorporated that increase availability and prevent risk of damage due to unshreddables, including hydraulic locking of rotor bearings, a hydraulic anvil clamping device, a hydraulic ejection door, as well as a hydraulic device for disassembly of hammer axles. Long-life caps protect the hammer pins and rotor disks and increase the flywheel effect of the rotor, so fewer energy peaks occur, according to the company.

The CFF Houston operation chose the Metso Lindemann shredder “due to its proven dependability, high production, ease of maintenance and economic operation,” the company states in a news release. CFF also expressed confidence in Metso Lindemann’s parts availability and service support based in Cedar Rapids.

Metso Lindemann says the Power Zerdirator’s reputation for solid design and performance has been renowned in Europe for generations, where numerous installations have been in operation. Customers have applauded the low energy requirements, environmental-friendly technology, flexible operating capabilities and plant control features.

CFF Houston also recently purchased a Metso Lindemann 1,380-ton scrap metal shear, as the company strives to enhance its position as a growing scrap metal processor in southeast Texas.

The Cedar Rapids operation of Metso Lindemann offers customers a choice of both American and European shredder types. Parent Metso Lindemann, based in Dusseldorf, Germany, and owned by Metso Minerals of Finland, has recently integrated its engineering resources with the U.S. organization and added personnel to support the company’s expanding business in the North American marketplace.
