Cerebra, Cimelia Form Alliance to Build Electronics Recycling Plant in India

When complete, the companies say that the plant will be the largest electronic scrap recycling facility in India.

Published reports note that Cerebra Integrated Technologies, an India-based information technology solutions provider, has created a strategic alliance with Cimelia Resource Recovery Pte Ltd., to set up India’s largest electronic scrap recycling unit in India.

Cimelia Resource Recovery is a subsidiary of Singapore-based Enviro-Hub Holdings Ltd.

The alliance will help Cerebra Integrated build an electronics recycling facility on 10 acres in Bangalore, India. Cimelia will set up the plant and machinery and will jointly manage the proposed plant with Cerebra. The companies hope to have the facility complete and operational by September, 2011.

Once the facility is complete, Cerebra says that the company will double its electronic scrap management capacity, from 30,000 to 60,000 metric tons per year. Through the new plant and alliance, Cerebra says it will be better equipped to recycle electronic scrap domestically, as well as gain entry to international markets through Cimelia’s global network.

In a press report by IBN Live, V. Ranganathan, Cerebra’s managing director, says, “We intend to set up India's largest e-waste recycling facility at Bangalore. This will be a major step towards greener growth. Added to this, the Government of Karnataka (India) has extended its invitation by signing an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) and has allotted land for this in Bangalore to facilitate this growth.”
