The Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) has announced that ROMPAP, the Romanian pulp and paper trade association, has become its newest member.
ROMPAP includes 24 member companies representing the majority of Romania’s pulp, paper, board and corrugated board producers as well as CEPROHART SA Braila, a research and development institute for the industry.
“CEPI is delighted to welcome ROMPAP as a CEPI member and we hope that we will have a very fruitful partnership over the years to come,” says Teresa Presas, managing director of CEPI. “ROMPAP has been active since 1992 and has been promoting our industry within Romania and we now look forward to learning from them and sharing expertise.”
“It is also extremely pleasing that one of the newest European member states is now actively involved in promoting our industry at the European level, and we hope that this will encourage other countries to join in due course,” she adds.
Remarks Constantin Chiriac, general executive director of ROMPAP, “We are pleased to be able to take our place as a member of CEPI and believe that we can play an important role in representing the newer European member states and the issues we face.”
Made up of national trade groups from 18 nations (16 European Union members plus Norway and Switzerland), CEPI represents 800 pulp, paper and board producing companies in Europe operating some 1,200 paper mills.
