The Construction & Demolition Recycling Association (CDRA) announced that it is hosting a free webinar titled, "Managing Fire Risks in Recycling." This webinar, which is presented by the association’s Risk Management Committee, will take place Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST.
The waste and recycling industry has experienced substantial fire losses in recent years, resulting in massive property damage and financial liability. The result has been that many insurance carriers are restricting their underwriting risk and are no longer offering property coverage options to waste and recycling businesses.
The insurance carriers that remain are increasing their premiums and decreasing coverage options. Recycling operators that experience fire loss have a tough road to recovery, which is why managing fire risk has become a major priority throughout the industry.
The "Managing Fire Risks in Recycling" webinar will address several aspects of this issue:
- Presenters will discuss the state of affairs related to insurance industry response to fire loss in recycling
- How operators can position their companies for more favorable consideration by insurance carriers
- What fire prevention activities recycling businesses are taking to minimize their risk
John Schumacher, SVP of Schamburg, Illinois-based Assurance Agency, and Nina Gonzalez, assistant VP of Los Angeles-based Brown & Riding, will be the webinar’s presenters.
