Casella Waste Systems, Inc. has acquired Statewide Carting Inc., a residential and commercial hauling company in its eastern Massachusetts market. The company is based in Tyngsboro, Mass. Statewide serves customers in northern and eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire and has annual revenues of approximately $3.3 million. The company said the purchase price was approximately $2.9 million.
"One of our most important strategic efforts is to densify our existing assets in our core markets," John Casella, chairman and CEO of Casella Waste Systems, said. "The purchase of Statewide Carting tucks-in nicely with our existing operations in that market."
Casella Waste Systems, headquartered in Rutland, Vermont, is a regional, integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company that provides collection, transfer, disposal and recycling services primarily in the northeastern United States.
The acquisition is the latest in a whirlwind of activity for the recycling and waste management concern. Earlier this week the company acquired a Maine paper recycling operation, William Goodman & Sons, while selling off one of its Virginia recycling facilities to Recycle America Alliance.
Additionally, the company recently received a permit from the state of New Hampshire for one of its landfills.
