Given recent utilities cost increases and difficult market conditions, Cascades Inc. announces a temporary shutdown of its tissue mill located in Mechanicville, N.Y.
The scheduled shutdown will begin next Monday, April 14 and could last two to four weeks. Current customers of the Mechanicville mill will be supplied by current inventory as well as other existing Tissue Group mills. All other Tissue Group activities will continue normally.
The mill currently employs 40 people and has a total production capacity of 50,000 short tons, which accounts for 10 percent of the Tissue Group's total capacity.Latest from Recycling Today
