Cascades Inc., Kingsey Falls, Quebec, a leader in recovery and in the manufacturing of green packaging and tissue paper products, has announced its partnership with the Cross-Country Ski World Cup Finals to be held in Québec City from March 16-19. This partnership will support the green measures taken by the event and reduce the international competition’s environmental footprint, according to the company.
Cascades says it will support the event in an original way by deploying a “green squad” on the competition site, whose members will ensure proper management of residual materials. Reducing waste and encouraging recycling will result in an improved environmental footprint for the event, the company says. The initiative also is aimed at making citizens aware of best practices in recycling at home.
“We are delighted to be part of the festivities on the Plains of Abraham. Many Cascaders will be there to cheer on the athletes, particularly their favourite, new world champion Alex Harvey, whom we have been supporting for over 10 years,” says Cascades President and CEO Mario Plourde. “At Cascades, our investment in athletes testifies to the importance we place on healthy young people, and on athletes’ influence as positive role models for the rising generation. Cascades is proud to encourage the practice of sport and support our athletes.”
Cascades says it is proud to contribute to the success of the World Cup by giving new life to recovered materials, and wishes all Canadian athletes success.
Founded in 1964, Cascades produces, converts and markets packaging and tissue products that are composed mainly of recycled fibres. The company employs 11,000 employees, who work in close to 90 production units located in North America and Europe.
