Cascades Boxboard Group Inc. reported net sales of $242 million for the third quarter, compared to $216 million for the same time last year. For the nine-month period the company recorded net sales of $720 million, compared to $648 million for the corresponding period of 2001.
The 12 percent net sales increase for the third quarter is due to stronger shipments in North America, combined with higher selling prices in Europe. The addition of a folding carton plant in Quebec acquired in January 2002 and the proportionate consolidation since January 2, 2002 of Metro Waste Paper Recovery Inc. also resulted in increased net sales.
