Cascades Inopak is now making and commercializing NatureWorks PLA packaging, a bio-based plastic that was developed by Cargill, based in Minneapolis.
“PLA containers are a major innovation for the plastic industry,” Mario Plourde, president and COO of Cascades Specialty Products Group, says. “From now on we are pleased to offer a greener type of plastic to out customers.”
Cascades Inopak has manufactured rigid plastic containers for the last 25 years, including a range of containers used in retail sales for the packaging of various food products, such as bulk candies, fresh salads and prepared meals.
Cascades is based in Kingsley Falls, Quebec, and says it is the first Canadian manufacturer to manufacture NatureWorks PLA packaging.
