Cascades Inc. has announced plans to consolidate its Norampac corrugated productions operations in the New England region. The consolidation will include the closure of the company’s Leominster, Mass., box plant, as well as the expansion of its facility in Thompson, Conn.
The Leominster plant specializes in converting corrugated products. Upon the plant’s closure, equipment at the location will be moved to its Thompson operation.
Marc-Andre Dépin, president and CEO of Norampac, a Division of Cascades, says, "The decision to close the Leominster plant was a difficult one and follows several years of financial challenges at that location. As we have done in Quebec in 2010, consolidating Norampac's New England operations into the Thompson facility will allow us to better serve our customers, to reduce costs and to improve the profitability in this region."
