Cascades Inc. and Sonoco Products announced that their joint venture operation, Cascades Sonoco Inc., is investing $9 million at its Kingsey Falls, Que., facility. The investment will go toward extending the plant, as well as the installation of new equipment, as well as improved training and other expenses.
The production capacity of the mill is more than 50,000 tons per year. The new production line is able to convert paper, board or other materials for the packaing industry.
The new machine can extrude up to three different types of polymers. It will allow the Kingsey Falls operation to diversify its production beyond the pulp and paper industry and easily be operated for other market needs.
