The Canadian Association of Recycling Industries named Howard Sherman the new president of the association. Sherman is president and CEO of Ferrous Processing LLC.
He was elected for one year. He follows Sheldon Kumber, vice president of I. Waxman & Sons.
Sherman said that one of the goals during his tenure as president will be to have greater dialog with consumers of recyclables in the country. Another step that Sherman hopes to accomplish as president is to streamline the organization, as well as provide more member services.
To streamline CARI, the group reduced the number of officers, as well as the size of its board of directors.
While Sherman is president and CEO of a U.S.-based company, he said the company owns Zalev Brothers, a large scrap recycler headquartered in Windsor. Additionally, Sherman said he is a Canadian resident and has a long history in the Canadian recycling business.
