Cardboard Lumber LLC, based in Lorain, Ohio, has introduced a product that is designed to deliver a sustainable solution for industrial clients’ packaging and freight applications.
Alta Boards brand cardboard lumber containers deliver lumber-like strength at one-third the weight of wood, reducing freight costs and carbon footprint throughout the supply chain, according to Cardboard Lumber.
This paper-based product is more eco-friendly than plastic alternatives, the manufacturer says, and is easily recyclable through existing recycling outlets that handle paper and fiber.
Fabricating crates, pallets and interior packaging, blocking and bracing items made with Alta Boards allows shippers to get a perfect fit every time, Cardboard Lumber says, adding that the product is ideal for the automotive industry, aerospace, custom manufacturing, industrial machinery suppliers and a wide range of other industries.
Users can build crating and pallets as needed, saving storage space versus prefabricated items that must be ordered in quantity to meet manufacturer minimums, the manufacturer says.
Alta Board ships via UPS, according to Cardboard Lumber, while an equivalent amount of wood would have to ship on a truck, making it more expensive and extending delivery time.
