Caraustar Industries Inc., a packaging company with headquarters near Atlanta, has announced plans to increase prices by $50 per ton on all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard and converted products produced by its mills. The increase is effective with shipments on and after Feb. 8, 2010. Caraustar will also increase prices of tubes and cores and all other uncoated recycled paperboard converted products, which will be effective with shipments on and after Feb. 15.
Greg A. Bartlett, vice president, sales and marketing for Caraustar’s Mill Group, states, “We have worked to mitigate rising costs by improving the productivity of our uncoated mill system and by guaranteeing the high quality of fiber supplied to our mills. However, recycled fiber prices have escalated significantly and we must pass these costs through to our customers.”
