Caraustar Industries Inc. will raise tube and core prices by up to 8 percent after June 24 - its third announced price increase this month.
Caraustar said the price hikes are meant to counter higher costs of energy, freight, benefits, insurance and recycled paperboard fiber.
Late last month the company said it would raise prices on all clay-coated recycled paperboard grades by $50 a ton effective July 1, and on May 17 , the company said prices for uncoated recycled paperboard would increase $50 a ton beginning June 17 .
Over the past several weeks most of the top paperboard producers have announced plans to hike finished product prices. The sharp increase in paper stock prices is often cited as the reason for the price increase.
With demand remaining strong and most of the downtime already taken, it looks as if higher prices for OCC should last for a while longer.
