Canusa Hershman Recycling Co. (CHRC), based in Baltimore, has acquired certain assets of First State Plastics, located in New Castle, Del.
The acquired operations include a 98,000-square-foot facility that houses post-industrial plastic grinding operations, a warehouse and office space as well as additional processing equipment and trucks. The addition of the assets allows CHRC’s plastics division to expand in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Ethan Hershman, CEO of CHRC, says, “Our plastics business has grown significantly over the past few years. We are excited about the addition of this new facility and expanding the services we can offer existing and future customers.”
Canusa Hershman Recycling Co. was formed in 2002 through the merger of the fiber group of Canusa Corp. and Hershman Recycling Inc. CHRC has more than 135 years of experience in materials processing and commodities trading.
According to CHRC, the company and its affiliates market more than 2.5 million tons of recyclables per year, including more than 10 million pounds per month of post-industrial plastic.
