Evergreen Fibres Inc., Branford, Ct., and Canusa Corp., Baltimore, Md., formed EC Independent, a sales agency firm to be based in Branford. The joint venture will focus on serving the East Coast domestic market. The president of EC Independent will be John Jay, formerly of International Paper Co.
Mike Siegel, president of Evergreen, said, “We have been looking for a way to strengthen our sales presence in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, and we think that John Jay is the perfect candidate.
Bruce Fleming, president of Canusa Corp., said, “Evergreen and Canusa have been exploring ways to expand our expertise and believe that EC Independent, led by John Jay, is a great way to do this. In an industry that is consolidating we always need to become more efficient and bring more value-added service to our mill partners and our mutual containerboard customers.
