Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo Marks Decade of Industry Service

Second Vancouver-based Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo met with success.

The Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo (CWRE), a trade show serving the Canadian waste, recycling and public works markets, marked its 10th anniversary with its Nov. 28-29, 2007, trade show at the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The event drew nearly 1,700 and 140 exhibitors, according to the event’s planners.

A survey conducted by Messe Frankfurt USA, the trade show’s organizer, found that respondents were pleased with the quality of exhibitors. Close to 75 percent noted that they have plans to purchase products and services from vendors they met at the Expo.

Working with the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre, CWRE increased the show’s “green” factor, using easily recycled materials and accessible collection systems. According to the survey, this effort was recognized and appreciated.

Company exhibits focused on collection, hauling, processing and disposal of waste; materials recycling; and municipal recycling programs, including blue box programs, MRFs, scrap metals, C&D, wood, plastic, paper, auto, tires, fiber and more.

According to a press release issued by Messe Frankfurt USA, Jerry Gunn, president of Precison Scale, says that CWRE’s “high-quality traffic at a reasonable pace allowed for strong presentations.”

“This has been the best show I have attended,” exhibitor Kirk Farr, connector territory manager for Parker Hannifin Canada, a leading Canadian motion and control technologies manufacturer says in the press release. “Many solid leads – well worth it,” he added.

A seminar series and half-a-dozen special events, sponsored by industry affiliates and presented by industry leaders, government officials and experts covering a wide array of interests, policies, regulations, technologies and concerns, also contributed to the success of the show, according to the organizers.

CWRE organizers are already planning for the show’s next edition, which will be held in Toronto, Nov. 5-6, 2008.
