The parent company of Newstech Recycling, Belkorp Industries, recently acquired an idled deinking pulp mill in Northhampton, Pa. The mill, idled for more than one year due to a host of environmental problems, was formerly owned and operated by Ponderosa Fibers of Pennsylvania.
The move by Belkorp is a promising sign for the deinking pulp industry. The company has operated the Newstech mill for several years. That mill, located in British Columbia, deinks old newspaper and old magazines into deinked pulp, which is then sold to newsprint mills, primarily on the West Coast.
