The Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI), Washington, has announced that Pearce Crosland will join the organization as its senior director of government relations and regulatory affairs, effective Dec. 1.
CMI describes Crosland as a strong and proven federal advocate and says he will serve as its chief federal lobbyist and regulatory affairs lead, representing the metal can industry before Congress, federal agencies and the Trump administration, as well as allied stakeholders.
Crosland most recently worked as the director of government affairs for the Washington-based Plastics Industry Association (Plastics). He served as the organization’s lobbyist in Washington, advocating on behalf of the industry on Capitol Hill, at the White House and within federal agencies.
“Pearce’s intimate knowledge of how Washington, D.C., works and his years of experience in federal government relations at other associations make him perfectly positioned to elevate CMI’s profile and effectiveness with federal government officials,” CMI President Scott Breen says. “I am confident that under his leadership, CMI will further deliver on a key member value—serving as the can industry’s voice with the federal government to catalyze beneficial action.”
Prior to joining Plastics, Crosland spent two years at the Building Owners and Managers Association International and nearly five years at the National Restaurant Association. CMI notes his work as a trade association lobbyist has been recognized by The Hill as a Top Lobbyist in Washington, and by the National Institute for Lobbying and Ethics as one of the Top Trade Association Lobbyists in the country.
“I am thrilled to join CMI and contribute to the important work this organization leads for the metal can industry on behalf of its members,” Crosland says. “I look forward to leveraging my government affairs experience to advance smart, effective policies that support growth, sustainability and American can manufacturing innovation.”
