The October issue of Recycling Today will feature an updated list of high-volume wire chopping operations in North America.
The previous list in October 2003 contained 51 facilities within the U.S. and four in Canada that operate one or more automated wire chopping lines. That was a drop from the October 2001 edition, when the number of facilities operating wire chopping lines stood at 63.
The scrap recycling community will be interested to see whether wire chopping has a made a comeback with the soaring copper market in the form of new or re-started facilities.
We invite readers who know of new wire-chopping facilities or ones that have recently been re-started to contact us at btaylor@gie.net so that the location can be added to our list for this year.
